PLA2465 Bankruptcy Law and Procedure (AS)

Prerequisite: PLA1003 (with a grade of C or higher)

This course introduces the principles and procedures of bankruptcy and debt collection law. Topics include voluntary and involuntary petitions, Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13, the roles of trustees, debtor and creditor rights, liens, preferences, discharges, exemptions, and post-judgment remedies. Emphasis is placed on the preparation of bankruptcy forms and documents, as well as the ethical considerations in assisting attorneys with bankruptcy and debt collection matters
