STS2324C Surgical Techniques and Procedures 2 (AS)

Prerequisites: STS1302 STS1304C, STS1323C, STS1340C, HSC1434C (with a grade of C or higher)

This course teaches pre-operative theory, detailed surgical procedures, and special techniques involving the multiple surgical specialties. The perioperative care of the individual patient is also covered. Specialties include urogenital, ophthalmic and orthopedic surgery. Instrumentation and procedural steps will be discussed. Operative sequence in the opening and closing of the surgical wound will be covered. Anatomy, surgical pathology, instrumentation, room setup, positioning, draping, incisions, and surgical procedures of each specialty area will be covered.
