COS0150 Barbering 1 (CCP)
Corequisites: VPI0100, VPI0200, VPI0300
This course provides instruction in safety rules, school and classroom or laboratory procedures, and practices aligned with industry standards and State Board regulations. Emphasis is placed on building essential skills in communication, math, and scientific concepts relevant to the barbering field.
Students will explore the fundamentals of the barbering profession, including its history, career opportunities, life skills, professional image, customer communication, and infection control. The course also focuses on client relations, job retention, and personal growth, which are key to long-term success in the industry.
Through hands-on learning, students will develop competence in core barbering procedures such as shampooing, scalp treatments, and basic hair trimming and shaping using clippers, shears, and razors.
