ETP1530C Introduction to Wind Energy (AS)
Prerequisite:
ETP1322C or
EET1215C or EET1084C (with a grade of C or higher)
This is an introductory course in surveying the advantages and disadvantages of wind power. Site surveys, wind charts, efficiency ratings and wind turbine characteristics for small and large wind turbines are presented and discussed. Both stand-alone and grid-connected systems will be presented. Physics of wind conversion, components and practical implementations of wind energy systems, and economics are presented.
