MGF1130 Mathematical Reasoning in Context 1 (AA)

Prerequisites: MAT1100 or MAT1033C (with a grade of C or higher) or adequate placement scores.

In this course, students will utilize multiple means of problem solving through student-centered mathematical exploration.  The course is designed to teach students to think more effectively and increase their problem-solving ability through practical application and divergent thinking.  This course is appropriate for students in a wide range of disciplines/programs. Topics include problem-solving strategies, logical reasoning and valid rules of inference, visual and spatial reasoning, numerical thinking and the study of numerical patterns, and the analysis, interpretation, and representation of data to draw reasonable conclusions.
