MGF1131 Mathematical Reasoning in Context 2 (AA)

Prerequisite: MAT1100 or MAT1033C (with a grade of C or higher) or adequate placement scores.

Through this course, students will experience the practicality of mathematics in a global society. Students will engage in the applications of tools and techniques of mathematics in a variety of contextual situations from everyday life. This course is appropriate for students in a wide range of disciplines/programs. Topics include financial mathematical literacy, mathematics in civic and social contexts including voting and apportionment methods, introduction to data analysis and statistical thinking, and the use of probability as a tool to make predictions based on data.
