Program Description
This institutional credit program is designed for professionals with non-education bachelor's degrees to help them transition into teaching careers through competency-based coursework, portfolios, and practicum experience. Once the program is completed, students will be eligible to begin teaching in Florida.
This teacher certification program consists of seven fully online courses and one practicum experience course. The Required Courses provide the student with a baseline of knowledge in educational theory, effective teaching strategies, classroom management and instructional technology.
This program also offers elective courses to further enhance skills in the teaching of reading.

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the program must have:
- a non-education bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
- a valid SOE (Statement of Status of Eligibility) from the FLDOE
- passing scores on the GKT (General Knowledge Test) Reading, English, Essay, and Math sub-tests
Candidates must complete College and program applications and be interviewed by the program director.
Completion Requirements
Students must complete all the coursework with a 2.5 GPA or higher, complete a portfolio, demonstrate teaching skills, and pass all FTCE exams.

Approximate program length: one year.
