Admission Requirements
Eligible students must have one of the following Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees: Radiography, Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiation Therapy.
Applicants must possess, or be eligible for, licensure from the state of Florida.
Applicants must hold a credential from one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Radiography (ARRT(R))*; American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)*; or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Radiation Therapy (ARRT(T))*.
Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Students who have earned an A.A. degree or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution may be considered to have met the general education core and elective coursework (60 credit hours) of the degree. Students are permitted to complete any remaining lower division medical imaging program-specific coursework while completing upper division Medical Imaging B.S. core coursework. For additional information regarding lower division course requirements, please see the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging (BS) Requirements section of this catalog.
For additional information regarding admission requirements, please see the Admissions section of this catalog.
Completion Requirements
In addition to the credit hours required for the A.S. degree in Radiography, Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiation Therapy, students must also complete the additional general education courses, which may add additional credit hours. The sum of these two credit groups will total 84 credit hours. Students will complete 36 credit hours in upper division coursework for a total B.S. degree requirement of 120 credit hours.
*Students with one of the following credentials: ARRT(R), NMTCB or ARRT(T), will need to complete additional clinical experience to be eligible for specialty exams:
The ARDMS Echocardiography registry exam requires 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience.
Note: If you are using your Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)/Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) program for the educational requirement, you still have to document an additional 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound.
Documentation required with Application: Letter from a supervising physician, ARDMS-registered sonographer/technologist or the educational program director indicating a minimum of 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience.
The Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry exam requires six months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience.
Students must also meet foreign language and civic literacy competency requirements.
