Program Description
This program will prepare the participant for entry-level employment in the automotive service field. Hands-on training in the labs is supplemented with the theory in the classroom to give the student a full understanding of workplace practice, safety, and organization. This program covers all basic aspects of the 8 ASE areas, giving the student the opportunity to gain knowledge for any entry-level position. ASE Education Foundation Entry Level curriculum prepares learners for 8 entry-level certification exams included in the program. Additionally, the program prepares students for the professional level ASE certification exams. This is an ASE Education Foundation Accredited Training Program, www.aseeducationfoundation.org/
Admission Requirements
- No high school diploma or GED is required. (To be eligible to receive federal student aid, you must: Have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, or have complete homeschooling)
- Complete an application for admission, located at www.palmbeachstate.edu/admissions/Admissions-Applications
- Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam if not exempt from TABE testing. To determine if you are exempt, please go to this link and view TABE Standards.
- Send request for official high school transcripts, GED, or validated foreign equivalent to the Admissions Office.
- Attend a program information session and meet with the Trade and Industry advisor.

Completion Requirements
- Students must successfully complete all courses listed in the catalog for this program.
- Students must pass the TABE with the following minimum TABE test scores: Reading: 9; Language: 9; Mathematics: 10 or qualify for TABE exemption.
- All financial responsibilities must be satisfied.

Daytime: 600 clock hours - 22 weeks/ Evening: 600 clock hours - 32 weeks

This program is offered at the Lake Worth and Belle Glade campuses.

Employment Opportunities
Upon completion of this program, students may seek employment as entry-level automotive technicians in dealerships, quick lube shops, tire stores or independent service/repair shops. Students may choose to enter jobs as technicians, service advisors, parts specialists or entrepreneurs.
Career Path Notes
This program provides instruction in the general maintenance and light repair areas of automobile specialization. Student competencies to exit the program for employment are established by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation.
