Program Description
The Fire Officer Supervisor (Officer 1) College Credit Certificate program offered at Palm Beach State College meets the national model curriculum of the Fire and Emergency Service Higher Education (FESHE) initiative, the industry certification requirements of the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, and the high academic standards of Palm Beach State College. The program prepares students to face the many and varied challenges encountered by a first-line Company Officer in the fire and emergency services. This is accomplished by delivering quality instruction in a convenient and flexible manner.
The Fire Officer Supervisor (Officer 1) College Credit Certificate is appropriate for students seeking to enter or already in the fire and emergency services workforce who wish to promote up the ranks or otherwise advance their careers. This program is offered online, accommodating the schedules of students who may also be working professionals. Upon completion, students will possess not merely a College Credit Certificate from a regionally accredited educational institution, but all the coursework needed to attain the following state of Florida fire service certifications: (1) Fire Service Instructor l and (2) Fire Officer l.

- Have a standard high school diploma or GED; and
- Florida Firefighter Certification

Program Length
This program can be completed in one semester of full-time enrollment.
Location
The program is offered online. For select program courses, students may choose to complete an optional hands-on component in order to meet the Fire Service Certification requirements of the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
